Food Justice in the United States…
.
Across the U.S. the movement for Food Justice is growing. From the work of groups like The Food Project, and the Brooklyn Food Coalition in the East, to Growing Power and the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network in the Midwest. From People’s Grocery on the West Coast, the Mvskoke Food Sovereignty Initiative in the South, all the way to the Coalition of Immokalee Workers in Florida, Restaurant Opportunities Centers United across the nation, and many more, powerful efforts to take back control of the U.S. food system are underway. Our U.S. Tours bring participants together with food justice activists and organizations to educate, share, discuss and coordinate efforts to transform the U.S. food system so that it promotes healthy individuals, environments and communities.
Food First’s extensive national organizing work through the U.S. Food Sovereignty Alliance and our long history of involvement in domestic activism around food sovereignty have strengthened our national network of contacts and allies. Our Food Justice Tours introduce you to the key organizations working on the ground, to hear the local stories and learn from important food thinkers and activists about the challenges and successes in their fight for food justice.
